A new event joins the trend of the digital format: the Consumer Electronics Show, the world's largest technology fair, will be held 100% online in January 2021.
To guarantee health security and prevent possible contagions, since last February most of the great mass events around the world have been suspended. A good part of them, such as the presentations of new technological products, have been converted to the online format, and now another of the major fairs in the sector announces that it is joining this trend.
This is CES 2021: Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the association in charge of organizing the event, has announced that next January, the world's largest and most important technology fair will not be held in Las Vegas like every year, It will take place in a fully digital format. credit: third party image reference
The reasons for this decision are clear: even though there are still a few months until January, the organization prefers not to host large crowds of people to prevent human virus infections.
"For more than 50 years, CES has been the global arena for innovation. And CES 2021 will continue to be a platform to launch products, interact with global brands, and define the future of the technology industry," the organization reports in the statement. "With growing global health concerns about the spread of COVID-19, it is not possible to safely convene tens of thousands of people in Las Vegas in early January 2021 to meet and do business in person. The fair, therefore, will have a completely online format. According to CTA reports, keynotes and conferences will be streamed, products and services will be exhibited digitally, and meetings and networking will be done through the internet with real-time interactions. The organization hopes to retake the physical fair in Las Vegas for CES 2022.
In this way, the Consumer Electronics Show joins many other events that have been held in digital format, which have had to adapt to new health circumstances or have been directly suspended due to the human virus. Among them is the Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona, whose celebration had to be canceled, or IFA 2020, which this year will be a three-day "mini IFA" with a limit of 1,000 attendees for each event.
