Nokia presents its first TV Box with Android TV for any television

Nokia presents its first TV box with Android TV for every television

Although Android TV has been with us for several years, it was not until the explosion of video streaming applications that it began to gain traction. Brands like Xiaomi were already selling devices like the Xiaomi Mi Box TV in Spain and other markets, but few brands had followed that path.

Now Nokia joins the launch car the Nokia Media Streamer, a device that connects to our television via HDMI and that using control with Bluetooth connection allows us to control Android on the television.

Features Nokia Media Streamer

  • Processor: Quad-Core GPU Mali-450
  • RAM: 1 GB
  • Memory: 8GB eMMC
  • Operating system: Android TV 9.0
  • Output resolution : 1080p
  • Connectivity:
  1. Bluetooth 4.2
  2. Dolby Audio and DTS Surround Sound
  3. Dual-Band Wi-Fi
  4. HDMI
  5. Micro USB port
  • Others: Google Assistant
  • Remote control: with Bluetooth and support for voice commands.

Box format and control knob
Unlike devices such as the Xiaomi Mi Stick TV, the Fire Stick TV, or the Chromecast itself, the Nokia Media Streamer is committed to a box format that we will put next to our television.

This device will be connected to the power using a charger with a micro USB port and to the TV using an HDMI cable.

It has a quad-core processor, 8GB of internal memory, and 1GB of RAM. They may seem small numbers but it is what is necessary to open streaming applications and simple games. The screen support is up to 1080p, so we will not be able to enjoy 4K content.

The remote is very similar to the one Xiaomi includes on its devices, without number buttons and with direct access keys to applications such as Netflix.

Of course, we can use the mobile as device control and send content as if it were a Chromecast, by integrating Android TV with this function.

Price and availability
At the moment this device will go on sale in India on August 28 for 3499 rupees, about 40 euros at the exchange rate, very similar to the price of the Xiaomi Mi Stick TV that went on sale in Spain a few weeks ago.
