Joker is a well-known malware, which on several occasions has put the Google Play Store against the strings, and about which we tell you more a few months ago. This malware makes its return to Android, now affecting new applications, so far a total of 16 infected people have been discovered, also available in Spain. So many users may have been exposed.

A team of cybersecurity experts has been responsible for informing Google about Joker's presence in these apps. These apps have been immediately removed from the Play Store, luckily. Although it makes it clear that this malware is a very powerful threat, it still appears from time to time.

Joker is a particularly complex malware because it can act in several ways, it does not have a unique pattern of acting. Most commonly we sign up for premium subscription services, but you can also install spyware to access sensitive user data. It can work in the background because this app hides the instructions to download data in the background, so the user does not know what is going on.

This malware has been discovered in 16 apps available on the Play Store. After being informed of the presence of the same in these apps, Google has proceeded to its elimination. There may be users in Spain who have one of them installed, so they are asked to remove them from the phone. Here is the confirmed list:

  15. Tangram App Lock.
  16. Hummingbird PDF Converter – Photo to PDF.
Google Removes 11 Apps from PlayStore Said to Have Joker Malware

These applications accumulated more than 120,000 downloads between them, as you may have known. At the moment Joker does not appear to have been detected in more applications, although this malware is possibly the main threat facing Google. So it is not ruled out that in the future more applications infected with it will be discovered. If you had any of these apps installed on your phone, proceed to their removal as soon as possible.
