Xiaomi's new wireless charging is the most powerful: 80 W!

Although contact electricity charging technology is not very new, massive deployment in high-end mobiles is. In Spain, it is not yet very common to be able to enjoy compatible chargers in bars, restaurants or public transport stations, but still, manufacturers continue to innovate in this regard.

The last to present its novelties has been Xiaomi, which had already announced a new milestone in wireless charging speed and which today has taught it on video.

That's 80W wireless charging

The manufacturer has shown in a video a prototype mobile (based on the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro) supported by an experimental charging base in which it is charged by one of its latest chargers, one of 120 W similar to that presented by Vivo last year and which Xiaomi uses in the Mi 10 Ultra.

The speed achieved in wireless fast charging is no less than 80 W. This means a 33% loss of efficiency, although it is not very different from what happens with the more traditional wireless charging.

This assumes that you can charge a mobile with a full 4000mAh battery in less than 20 minutes. Specifically, it takes 19. It takes only 8 minutes for half.

These figures are eye-catching even when it comes to wired charging, but wirelessly it's amazing. However, although we may end up seeing it in terminals that we can buy, it may still take a few months, if not a few years, to do so.
