Here's what it would cost you to buy all the Steam games

These last few weeks, PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, about to launch, have made all the headlines. But sometimes we forget that there is a video game platform that surpasses those of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo: Steam.

With more than 90 million active users, a record 20 million users playing at the same time, and more than 30,000 games in its catalogue, Steam far exceeds console figures.

Have you ever wondered how much it would cost to buy all the steam games? The website calculated it, and as you may have imagined the figure is dizzying.

It is an amount that can be accurately calculated because Valve, creators of Steam, offers public statistics of all published games, and what they cost.

Buying the more than 30,000 games on Steamin the United States would cost $556,286.14. About half a million euros.

Interestingly, Halloween Sale is active today, and thanks to them the total cost drops to $438,155, so you'd save $100,000... In this chart you can see the variation in the total price since 2017:

As shown, in 2017 the total price of Steam games was around $250,000 and has doubled in the last 3 years. The price drops seen on the chart are the rebate periods.

Partly due to the landing of Japanese games, most of which sell at 60 euros, price rarely reached on Steam. Microsoft has increased this figure to 69.99 euros, which is what your Xbox games will cost.

But the most important cause of this rise in the total price of Steam games is that there are simply a lot more now than there were 3 years ago.

More than 8,000 new titles are added to Steam each year, increasing this cost.
