How to create your own instagram filters with a free tool

Instagram filters are certainly one of the things that put the social network in the privileged position it is now in, allowing until the same users can create their own filters.

For this occasion, we will be presenting how to make your own filters for Instagram or even Facebook through the Spark AR Studio app, an app created by the same company that officially allows you to create filters for the platform.

To be honest, this process can be somewhat complicated with other tools, but thanks to the facilities they provide us to make the process easier, the task does not turn out to be so desperate. Now, keep an eye out for every indication.

Steps to create filters with Spark AR Studio

Apps created by Facebook can be downloaded for free from any Windows computer or on your Mac running macOS.  As we have already mentioned, it will be a task that for almost anyone who has a basic knowledge of social networks and computers will be able to solve. If you have to spend some time reading the instructions and signals so that at the time of creating the filter you will not waste unnecessary time and achieve it as quickly as possible.

In the Spark AR guide, we come across various material that the same platform provides, such as explanations and video tutorials to implement the skills that are learned. As such it is a process that requires patience but still turns out to be quite fun.

The effects are basically created as projects and some of them must be treated through Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator, so if you are aware of these programs everything will be given to a thousand wonders. In itself most of the effects that the app allows creating are based on augmented reality, i.e. makeup, custom backgrounds, virtual glasses, decorative masks and a few other things.

On the main page, we will see up to 8 types of filter, although in each of them we find extensive options to customize the design.

When you finish creating the effect, you can save it quietly on your PC and then link your Facebook account to your Instagram account so you can include it on the platform. For this, you only have to do the following:

  •  Enter the Instagram app, access the section of your profile and tap on the panel at the top right, i.e. on the three white stripes.
  • Tap on the Settings tab and choose the Account section.
  • Once inside, access Linked Accounts or Share in other apps.
  •  Select Facebook and sync the two platforms.

After this process, you only have to go to the application on the Spark AR Studio PC and click on the Test on device function, because with this we will be sending the filter to the mobile, for which we will need the help of the Spark AR Player mobile application. Verify that the filter is what you were actually looking for and you will only need to post it on Instagram, which will be done directly from the Spark AR Hub website, from where you will have to log in to Facebook, since Instagram belongs to Facebook, in case you did not know it.

Find the Upload Effect tab and wait for it to be published on the social network so it can be tested. In conclusion, it is a process that as we said at the beginning can be complex and even a little fatigued, but if you actually have in mind to create your own filter and do not want to give up that dream, you already have the method to follow to achieve it.

Here's the Spark AR Player app link so you can download it from your Android or iOS mobile.
