Netflix on Android already lets you listen to tv shows and movies as if they were podcasts

This feature has long been in testing, and finally reaches the stable version of the Netflix app.

While Netflix has several experimental features circling, this new option generated expectations for users, as it can be useful in different contexts.

Netflix adds "audio-only" mode to its TV shows and movies

If you have the Netflix app installed on your Android mobile, you may already have the new option that will allow you to be in audio mode. Yes, an option that allows you to turn off the video in series and movies and listen to them as if they were podcasts.

As shown in the screenshot shared by Android Police, this option is visible in the video player, along with the other options to change the speed, audio and subtitles, lock screen. Etc. By simply choosing "Video Off" you'll already have the content available only in audio.

This new model can be useful for saving data or taking care of your mobile battery in emergencies. It can also become an option when you're in multitasking mode or you're doing activities at home.

And of course, it can be practical for certain content such as documentaries, interviews or stand-up shows. Netflix may be planning to add more content in the future, taking into account this new option, to join the podcast trend.

On the other hand, let's remember that other Netflix tests are implementing a temporaryizer for the user to schedule when to stop the app. An ideal solution for those watching Netflix from mobile in bed and that can be combined with this audio-only option.

This new feature appears to be coming to the Netflix app on Android via server, so it doesn't depend on the version update, nor will it help you install any APKs. You'll have to wait for Netflix to gradually turn on the option to all users.
