OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are already official: this is OnePlus' high-end from Hasselblad

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro

After a few weeks of leaks and after the brand itself revealed its design, the new OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro have finally been introduced marking the generational shift in hardware and the beginning of a new era of collaboration with Hasselblad.

Despite Pete Lau, CEO, and founder of OnePlus fully revealing the design of the company's new flagships, OnePlus has held an event featuring what will be the firm's flagships by 2021.

With these new models, OnePlus confirms the strategy that started in 2020 with a few first words, which no longer aim to be the cheap Flagship Killers that used to be the OnePlus of yesteryear.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro run as mobile phones with their own personality that point directly to the heart of the high-end while maintaining prices according to their category.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro

OnePlus 9 the reference model that is based on a very good base

The renewal of the 2021 OnePlus 9 has been treading hard with the most powerful equipment that can currently be put on a smartphone. Both the OnePlus 9 Pro and the OnePlus 9 share much of the hardware, but there are also some differences.

Under the hood of the OnePlus 9, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor made of 5 nm with 8 cores and support for 5G technology, accompanied by an integrated Adreno 660 GPU that offers maximum power in games.

This is, for the time being, one of the best hardware-level combinations of the moment, and will be present on both the OnePlus 9 Pro and OnePlus 9.

Both models will feature variants with 8 GB of LPDRR5 RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, and 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of internal storage. Both storage options are equipped with UFS 3.1 technology.

The new OnePlus 9s that have just been introduced come with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution (2,400 x 1080 pixels) that leaves a density of 402 dpi and a variable refresh rate of between 1 Hz and 120 Hz.

In the presentation, OnePlus has insisted on on-screen color quality and features HDR10+ support, color calibration, and brightness of up to 1,100 nits.

In the battery section, the reference model for the OnePlus 9 offers a capacity of 4,500 mAh with fast charging of 65 W from the Warp Charge 65T charger and Qi wireless charging of 15 W.

The new generation of OnePlus 9 comes in three finishes: Winter Mist, in which you play with the rear gradient; Arctic Sky, a blue with a matte finish; and Astral Black, in a matte finish and with a certain texture.

OnePlus 9 Pro, small screen improvements, and fast charging

The big star of the presentation has been the OnePlus 9 Pro, the top model of the brand for the first half of 2021.

At the performance level, this model shares the same SoC Snapdragon 888 with Adreno 660 GPU with the same versions of 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of internal storage UFS 3.1.

It also shares the same display technology, although in this case, OnePlus has chosen to mount a panel with a slight curve on the sides and a diagonal of 6.77 inches with QHD+ resolution (3,216 x 1,440 pixels), HDR10+ support with up to 1,300 nits.

OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 Pro's display provides some additions in color calibration technologies, motion adjustments, and on-screen brightness. The display maintains the variable 120 Hz refresh rate of the base model.

When it comes to autonomy, we also find some small differences from his younger brother. OnePlus 9 Pro comes with a 4,500mAh battery, Warp Charge 65T (65W) fast charging, and 50W fast wireless charging.

What's new in Hasselblad's handheld cameras

One of the main innovations in this new baking has undoubtedly been OnePlus' alliance with Hasselblad in the development of its cameras. This is where the distances between the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro are marked.

The OnePlus 9 comes equipped with a 48 Mpx main camera with f/1.8 aperture and optical stabilizer, 50 Mpx f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle, and a 2 Mpx monochrome lens that brings light information to photos.

For its part, the OnePlus 9 Pro goes a little further and to this same configuration of the main camera, the wide-angle and monochromatic sensor of 2 Mpx, adds a telephoto lens of 8 Mpx that provides an optical zoom of 3.3 magnifications.

On both models, the front camera is kept on a 16 Mpx sensor in an on-screen hole that is basically the same one that already mounted the OnePlus 8T.
