Hearing and hearing: Sony comes up with neckband speaker for virtual meetings

Sony will introduce the Bluetooth-enabled SRS-NB10 neckband speaker in September. The gadget with an integrated speaker and microphone rests comfortably on the shoulders and can therefore be worn all day. Moreover, you are no longer glued to the computer during an online meeting, but you can safely get a cup of coffee without missing a single word.

According to Sony, the new SRS-NB10 offers clear audio quality thanks to Precise Voice Pickup technology: two-directional (beam-forming) microphones, combined with advanced audio signal processing, provide minimal echo. This way, the user is always hands-free intelligible even in noisy environments.

The speakers in the neckband are facing upwards, in the direction of the earcups, and the so-called passive radiators on the back strengthen the bass. The microphone can be switched off with a simple click of the mute button. At the other end of the SRS-NB10 are the volume buttons.

In addition to online meetings, according to Sony, the neckband is also great for playing music or listening to TV shows. Handy is the Multipoint Connection function, which allows you to connect two devices at the same time, such as a laptop and a smartphone. If a business call comes in through the computer while music is playing on a smartphone, you can quickly switch between the two sources via the Play/Call button on the left side of the neckband. Once the call is finished, the music will continue playing without reconnecting.

The battery lasts up to twenty hours and can be charged quickly: 10 minutes of the plug-in via the USB-C connector is enough to work for another hour. The anthracite grey SRS-NB10 will enter the Belgian market in September and will receive a guide price of 150 euros.
