Game publisher NACON and Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM), a leading entertainment company focused on cross-platform production of the premium movie and television content, announced that they have signed an agreement to release a new RoboCop video game based on the first three films of the original RoboCop universe. The game will include a new RoboCop story and developed by studio Teyon, known for the game Terminator: Resistance. The title is scheduled for release in 2023 for console and PC platforms.

RoboCop is a classic sci-fi action-adventure and one of Hollywood's most iconic movie series of all time. First released in 1987, the series is still popular around the world. Next year, RoboCop celebrates its 35th anniversary, while the franchise, through numerous products, licenses, and appearances in video games, continues to be an important part of pop culture.

NACON and Teyon will work with MGM to create an authentic RoboCop gaming experience that stays true to the franchise's DNA and immerses fans in an original story that allows them to slip into the role of none other than RoboCop itself. In the original RoboCop film, police officer Alex Murphy is mortally wounded by unscrupulous criminals. Innovative doctors can save him, making him an unstoppable crime-fighting cyborg called "RoboCop."

"We are excited to partner with MGM to offer a new vision of a popular franchise that emerged over 30 years ago. This game fits perfectly with our goal of offering different gaming experiences to the widest possible audience," says Alain Falc, CEO of NACON.

Robert Marick, Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Products and Experiences at MGM, said: "We are very much looking forward to working with NACON and Teyon to bring one of MGM's most timeless I.P.s to gaming platforms with a new story. The film is known for captivating action and a complex plot, and we look forward to RoboCop fans being able to experience this up close through the game."
