How to transfer files from Android to Windows

The fact that we can have synchronized our Android smartphone and our computer with Windows 10, can be really interesting since we can share the files from one to another without the slightest problem and all wirelessly. We explain how you can do it.

Surely you are interested that the files on your Android are ready to be used in Windows 10 and vice versa, in addition to being able to send a file from one to another without having to take out the cable and connect both devices.

That of the cables every day seems older and it shows that the wireless world is being established to stay permanently. Good proof of this is the synchronization that occurs between smartphones and computers.

Let's see how we can make both devices share files as simply as possible.

Your Phone

Within Windows, we have an application that Microsoft has developed that calls Your Phone and that will allow us to access from our Android device to the PC and vice versa.

It is a free application, which comes preinstalled on Windows 10 since 2018, by which we will not only be able to access our devices, but it will also serve to see the phone notifications on the computer.

To be able to use this application we only have to make sure that the smartphone has an Internet connection, either by WiFi or by data rate, to then perform these steps:

  • The first thing we must do is download and install on your mobile the application Your Phone from the Google Play Store.
  • Once this is done we will open the app and we must log in with the Microsoft account that we have on the computer.
  • On the computer, we must type Your phone in the area of the taskbar that allows us to do so and then select the icon that appears in the pop-up window and we sign in with our Microsoft account when it allows us to do so.
Your Phone
  • We must be clear that both devices are on the same network.
  • When you open the computer application we will see how the mobile information appears with all its contents.

From then on both computer and smartphone will be synchronized and we can use them to:

  • Share files between both devices, we can even see the photos we have on the mobile independently.
  • You'll see the notifications you have on your mobile on the Windows 10 screen.
  • You can also make and receive calls on your computer using the Your Phone app.

Another good solution for sharing files between Android and Windows is to get hold of an account from OneDrive, Microsoft's cloud service. We can opt for different plans and, as usual, there are free and paid.

  • OneDrive Basic: for this option, you will not have to pay anything and we will have at our disposal 5 GB of storage.
  • OneDrive Standalone: in this case, the cost will be 2 euros per month, but we will have 100 GB to interact.
  • Microsoft 365 Personal: This subscription is the most complete of all since it gives us 1 TB of storage, plus an annual subscription to the Windows Office office suite. It costs 69 euros per year.
  • Microsoft 365 Family: This option also includes the Microsoft Office package and 1 TB of storage per person up to a maximum of 6. It costs 99 euros a year.

The way to use it is extremely simple, we just have to:

  • Go to the OneDrive website and subscribe to some of the options we've seen in the previous lines.
  • The moment we already have a OneDrive account, we must go to the Google Play Store and download the version for your Android terminal.
  • Once downloaded and installed we only have to put the same account with which we have registered on the computer.
  • From this moment the general folder of OneDrive will be synchronized between both devices so that when one of them enters a file it leaves the other automatically.

As you can see it is a very fast way to share files between both devices and always have them on hand just in case.

Other similar options that may also be of interest to you, because they work in the same way are Dropbox and Google Drive, so you could also consider them.

AirDroid is another option if we want to share files between our Android terminal and our Windows computer. In this case, it is not a cloud service, but an app closer to Your Phone.

What it does is synchronize our smartphone with the computer to share files via wireless, in addition to other functions that are also extremely interesting to consider:

  • Files: we will be able to send files from the phone to the computer and vice versa wirelessly and with total comfort. The system is very intuitive and very well designed, so we will only drag from one to the other to get it.
  • Messaging: we will be able to answer those messages from WhatsApp, Telegram, or any other messaging application that we have from the computer since it will notify us of all those that arrive.
  • Applications: we will be able to uninstall apps from our smartphone and even pass apk files so that we can install them.
  • Search: it has another very interesting faculty that is to look for the terminal if we have lost it.

These are some of the most interesting functions of Airdroid which, as you can read, is an extremely versatile program with which we can make a good number of options. To make it work for us we just have to do the following:

  • Create an account on the program's website, and then download or install the Windows version of the application.
  • Then you do the same thing on your Android phone. You go to the Google Play Store, download, and install.
  • For them to be synchronized, they must only have the same registration account in both cases.

With all the ways we have shown you you can send files and synchronize your Android smartphone with your computer in a very easy, simple, and fast way, in addition to not having to use cables again.
